“At Rawmarsh Community School we aim to send all young people in to an ever changing world able and qualified to play their full part in it. We are committed to ensuring that all students have the best educational experience possible.”

Rawmarsh students follow a curriculum outlined by the government but adapted to ensure they reach their full potential. We know that not every student is the same. To achieve the best from our students we identify their needs and endeavour to fulfil them.

Therefore, students are grouped based on ability and their lessons are designed to not only meet their needs but ensure they feel challenged and engaged.

All students follow a timetable of 20 lessons per week.

Students who require additional support will be removed from French and/or ICT to receive additional lessons of Literacy and Numeracy.

In Y8, students will have the opportunity to choose their two favourite subjects within Creative Arts and have one lesson per week of each.

In Y9, students will choose their mini options from the list above. They will choose three subjects and have one lesson per week of each. These subjects act as a taster to their KS4 final options.

During KS4, students will study their core subjects alongside the subjects they have chosen as their options. A list of the full subjects available to take as an option can be found here Our Subjects along with details regarding the options process.

A breakdown of the lessons taught at KS4 can be found below.  Core subjects are highlighted in red and every student will take part in these lessons.

Students who require intervention/additional support will study towards 2 or 3 options and work with the learning mentors on their core subjects.

If you have any queries or questions relating to the Curriculum, please contact Mrs Helen O’Brien, Headteacher.
