Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award 2017
55 year 9 students have just completed their bronze Duke of Edinburgh award. To achieve this they completed 6 months voluntary work around school helping out in various curriculum and non-curriculum areas.
They had to learn a new skill which was first aid, this also resulted in them achieving the St John’s Ambulance level 2 award.
The students had to complete 3 months of physical activity. This involved students being involved in a variety of activities including dance, football, martial arts, athletics, parkour and climbing.
For the expedition section, they had to complete two overnight camping expeditions, carrying everything they need in a rucksack. The weather conditions were challenging, from pouring rain to stifling heat. The students showed great resolve and commitment and battled to the very end.
Well done to all involved, they were a credit to themselves and the school!
