Getting Wise About the World of Work
This week, some Y9 and Y10 students have taken part in a Workwise Work Experience Academy – although delivered virtually and not without a few technical hiccups (!) it has been absolutely brilliant and included a range of workplace tours, meeting employers and apprentices in different firms. Each student took part in a mock interview and gained valuable feedback from employers.
Together we completed work based tasks and team activities and students were able to start to put together their own CV. We met people from all walks of life ranging from McLaren to the Army and it opened our eyes to new opportunities.
Feedback from students shows that taking part has helped them to recognise their abilities, boost their confidence, expand their knowledge and generally feel really positive and informed about their future education and career paths.
Leigho: I didn’t just enjoy it, I also learnt loads of new information
Bailey: I learnt that if someone else can do it, I can too.
Scott: thank you so much for this amazing opportunity I appreciate it, this has opened up many ideas for the future for me
Georgia: I was shaking during my interview but I did it!!
