HeppSY+ Bus Returns!

Careers Events

The HEPPSY+ Higher Education Bus has been on the road again stopping at Rawmarsh Community School last week and working with some Y9 and all of our Y10 students.

Building on the sessions that they have completed during previous visits, this time the students focused on how to improve their academic skills. The sessions covered tips to be more effective with preparing for exams and heightened the importance of health and well being as well as study skills. We had to camp outside since the bus was rather hot in the sunny weather!

The graduate team on the bus shared the following apps that might help with studying.

Mathe Alarm Clock: forces you to solve multiple-choice math puzzles before shutting off its alarm.
Alarmy: designed to get you out of bed! Register a photo of an area or room in your house – once the alarm is set the only way to stop it ringing is to get out of bed and take a photo of the registered area.
Relax Life: de-stress with guided breathing and meditation exercises – simple easy to use stress management tool.
Headspace: help you to perform at your best and teaches the essentials of living a healthier, happier life
Oxford Dictionary of English: mobile app of the whole contents
RealCalc: has all the standard scientific functions and works like a real hand-held calculator
Duolingo: with 23 languages to choose from this is the worlds most popular way to learn a language and it’s free!
Ted: Feed your curiosity and expand your world with TED Talks: free videos to help you learn from the world’s most remarkable people
Khan Academy: over 10,000 videos and explanations at your fingertips in maths, science, economics, history, etc – common core questions and instant feedback.
