Planning our next steps
Our Year 11 students had a packed day last Friday working alongside visiting employers and education providers to gather information, skills and experience to help them plan their next move after Year 11.
Students particularly valued the opportunity to take part in a ‘mock interview’ answering questions and receiving feedback on how they had done.
Visitors commented on how professional and enthusiastic the year group was:
” I really enjoyed it thank you, I was really impressed with the pupils, not only at the event but around school too (holding doors open without being prompted exceeded my expectations)”
“The students were focused and had some real ‘golden nuggets’ of experience and ideas that they were willing to share with us”
“It was a pleasure – some lovely students!”
During the day students took part in sessions on apprenticeships and employability, how to write a personal statement and what to put in their applications as well as making a personal plan for their choices at 16 and at 18 and tips on revision success for their forthcoming exams.
The school would like to say a huge thank you to the willing volunteers who offer their time and experience to support and motivate our students year-on-year; it has also been brilliant this time to welcome new professionals and benefit from the advice and guidance that they have been able to contribute.
