Pops Outdoor Adventure

School News

The School have been working with Adrian Harvey and his team at Pops Outdoor Adventure to offer an exciting opportunity for some our students to participate in practical and engaging activities in an outdoor setting as part of their Alternative Curriculum.

The aim of these sessions is for students to develop skills and qualities that will serve them well in their lives going forward well beyond leaving school at the end of their year 11.

Some of the activities the students have engaged in are as follows:

  • Backwoods Cooking
    – Pizza
    – Smores
    – Burgers
    – Flatbread Pasties
    – Choc Orange Cakes
    (all made from scratch and cooked on an open fire or wood-fired pizza oven)

  • Survival Skills
  • Shelter Building
  • Fire Lighting
  • Tracking
  • First Aid/Search and Rescue
  • Archery
  • Leather Craft
  • Spray Art

The students who have participated in this programme have really enjoyed the experience and are developing the following skills and qualities:

  • Teamwork and working with others
  • Social skills
  • Cooking skills and budgeting
  • Self-reliance
  • Self-esteem
  • Independence
