Shakespeare Day 2017
On the 28th March, Rawmarsh Community School welcomed The Young Shakespeare Company who came to perform a number of key scenes from Shakespeare’s Macbeth. Year 11 were able to watch one of their GCSE Literature texts come to life in a fun and engaging performance that covered a range of content and skills the pupils will be examined on in May.
The pupils were then involved in a number of workshops led by the English department in which they revised other aspects of the play. These workshops involved getting them stuck in (quite literally in some cases!) and thinking about the play in ways they hadn’t thought of before.
With their GCSE in Literature just around the corner, Shakespeare day was a great way to help our pupils revise and engage with a very difficult text. We look forward to the Company’s second visit to Year 10 in May.
