Sponsored Walk 2017
The weather was kind On Friday 6th October as students from years 7 to 10 took part in our annual 10 miles sponsored walk.
The walk was to raise money for the Bradley Lowery Foundation. Students set out from school at 8.45am walking mainly on footpaths and bridleways passing through Low Stubbin and Street before reaching the halfway point at Elsecar. From Elsecar they headed towards Wentworth village where Miss Ball was raising money with a cake stall. From here they walked through the Deer Park to Nether Haugh and onto Parkgate before returning to school.
Students were encouraged on their way by more than 50 staff acting as route marshals, along with a number of parents who also walked the route. Some students opted to run all the way around with Ricky Eyre, Bailey Gerty, Chris Townsend and Taylor Allen arriving back first at 10.47am and Evie Litchfield being the first girl to finish at 11.10am.
The students showed great enthusiasm and commitment to complete what is a demanding route and made a great impression on members of the public who commented how friendly and polite they were. Despite the physical exertion, the students remained positive and cheerful throughout, a massive well done to all involved.
