U16s Girls Football Victory

Our U16s girls’ football team played their first competitive match this season.

The match was against Oakwood in the English Schools Cup. Saffron Tough made her debut in the left back position. We had a shaky start and found ourselves one nil down in the first couple of minutes. Our nerves then settled and we controlled the game from back to front. Melissa Roberts Richardson was absolute dynamite in centre midfield and deserved a well-earned goal heading it home to make the scores all level. Our lead was soon doubled by a great strike by Evie Litchfield. Half time came and we were 3-1 up with a goal from Beth Marshall.

Oakwood were strong and did pull one back. However, our back four were solid with outstanding performances from Amy carter and Katie O’Brien. We kept the pressure on after halftime and finished the match winning 5-2. Evie Litchfield bagging herself a hat-trick.

Well done girls! We play Penistone School in the next round.
