Y10 Climb the Roof of England
A group of Y10 students spent last weekend mountain walking and camping in the Lake District. They arrived Friday afternoon and set up camp at Seatoller Farm in the Borrowdale Valley. On Friday evening they climbed up to the summit of Fleetwith Pike. This was just a warm-up for the main event planned for Saturday.
Saturday’s objective was the summit of Scafell Pike which at 978m is the highest mountain in England. It was a difficult challenge and the students found it tough, but all managed to reach the summit by around 2pm. Some of the students even managed some extra climbing on route and also reached the summits of Esk Pike and Great End.
Having reached the summit the students knew the hard work wasn’t over and began to tackle the descent. Three hours later they arrived back at the minibus, shattered but proud of their achievement. Well done!
