Rawmarsh Community School

As a learning community with the needs of our children very much at its centre, we aim to ensure all students at Rawmarsh Community School enjoy the journey from primary to secondary education.

Effective and meaningful transition is essential to ensure that all students achieve success and develop as an individual. We aim to ensure all students enjoy and benefit from a smooth and progressive transition from Key Stage 2 to KS3, through to KS4 and beyond.

Our transition process involves a three tiered level of support including:

1. Parental engagement evening that gives parents, carers and students to hear from the senior leadership team as well as meeting their tutor who will stay with them throughout their time at Rawmarsh School.

2. Parent taster evening involving parents, carers and students participating in a rolling programme of engaging lessons. We aim to provide all parents with an insight into our provision of Maths and English as well as giving students a taste of what our outstanding creative arts department have to offer.

3. Rollover Day – Monday 26th June – We want to make the change from Junior school to Secondary as positive an experience as we can. To this end we collect information about students from Primaries throughout Year 6. In addition to the Parents’ Information Evenings, all students complete a 4 week transition programme that runs from June until the end of the summer term. During this time students will become familiar with the school’s way of working, expectations and layout. They will experience the new school day first hand and start to build relationships with peers and staff alike.
