Latest News – Changes to Pastoral Structure

At Rawmarsh, we aim to send every child into the wider world ready, able and qualified to play their full part in it. The ready and able aspect has never been more important than now and through the Rawmarsh Way we will continue to promote the skills and attributes our children need in order to develop their independence, responsibility and resilience to have a happy and successful life.

Good schools are always looking to move forward in order to support and challenge our students to be the best they can be in everything they do. Having reflected on our ambition for all students to be ready for the wider world we have looked at how we can increase the level of pastoral and curriculum support students receive. In order to do this we are making some structural and personnel changes to our pastoral team.

The following changes will take place after our upcoming February half-term break in order to increase the level of support on offer within our school community.

The new structure will involve:

  • The appointment of our new Assistant Headteacher for Behaviour and Attitudes, Mr Green, who joined us in January
  • A Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 Pastoral Hub
  • Increasing the capacity within our Family Support team (Mrs Shirt and Miss Palmer)
  • Redefining the roles of our Year Leaders (Mrs Shaw, Miss Merchant, Mr Leary and Mrs Hazzard)

You can view the full structure on the staff page of our website here: https://rawmarsh.org/parents/staff/

The Rawmarsh Way focuses, relentlessly, on support, pride and respect. Our new Key Stage Pastoral Hubs will work tirelessly to help students embody these personal attributes in everything they do.

Thank you for taking the time to read this information and your anticipated support with these changes. Working together in the ‘Rawmarsh Way’ will help us all ensure that our children leave school able, qualified and ready for the ever changing world in which we live.
