A group of our Y11s recently took part in a mountain walking weekend in the Lake District. We camped at Basebrown Farm campsite in the stunning Langdale Valley. The students were part of our Silver DofE group who completed their qualifying expedition in the Peak District during the summer. The weekend was to allow the students to test themselves in the more challenging environment the Lake District provides.
After setting up camp on Friday the group completed a 5-mile walk along the Langdale Valley. On Saturday we had glorious weather as we headed for the hills and completed a strenuous route reaching the summits of 4 Wainwright Peaks, Pavey Ark, Harrison Stickle, Loft Crag, and Pike of Stickle. On Sunday, on weary legs, the students walked through the forest to Elterwater.
Some of the students really had to dig deep and push themselves, but all rose to the challenge. All the students should be proud of what they achieved, well done to all involved.
