Rawmarsh History Parkgate200 Project

This year the local Rawmarsh area are celebrating the 200th anniversary of the ‘birth’ of Parkgate, both as an industrial centre and a community.

On Friday 8th September the first historic blue plaque for Rawmarsh was unveiled at Granby House on Aldwarke Road by  John Healey, Member of Parliament for Wentworth and Dearne, in whose constituency Parkgate lies.

The plaque is dedicated to Sir Charles. J. Stoddart, one of Parkgate’s most famous ‘Sons’ to commemorate his key role in the establishment of Parkgate.

Parkgate200 has already seen a number of events to help celebrate Parkgate’s 200th Anniversary and there are plenty more things to come this year!
