Y10 OCR Sports Studies Hillwalking

Over the past 3 weeks our Y10 OCR Sports Studies students have completed their assessed hillwalking days out in the Peak District. They planned out their walks at school beforehand but knew they would have to be flexible on the day and may need to alter their routes depending on the weather.

Each walk started and finished at the car park at Langsett reservoir and headed out onto the Midhope Moors. The students hoped to reach the summits of both Margery Hill and Pike Lowe, however their priority was to show good map and navigation skills and work well as a team and complete the route safely.

Over the 3 visits we had everything the British weather could throw at us, rain, fog, strong winds, snow and even a bit of sunshine. On two occasions the challenging weather forced changes to the route. The students showed great commitment and enthusiasm despite the challenging weather and terrain and remained positive and cheerful throughout. Well done to all involved.
