Transition Curling Event 2024

On Wednesday 1st May, the RCS Y9 Sports Leaders ran a Multi-Sport Transition Festival. The event saw three RCS feeder schools bring ten children to come and take part in sporting activities. With the event having a focus on easing transition for those new Y7’s.

Throughout the event, children took part in activities such as Boccia, Basketball, Multi-skills/Assault courses and Nightline. During this time, they also had a chance to discuss their thoughts and feelings regarding moving to RCS in September. Students were also given a transition booklet containing some key information regarding RCS for when they start in September. After completing all activities, the soon to be Y7’s were taken on a tour of the school in order to help familiarise themselves with their new surroundings.

The event was a huge success, with feedback from the students showing the majority of them were feeling more confident about their transition. The participants also loved the activities the Sports Leaders had organised for them. Therefore, a big well done to the Y9 leaders on planning and delivering such a successful event!
