This week, our Year 11 footballers progressed through to the Final of the Rotherham Schools Plate competition, after a tense 3-0 victory over St Bernard’s High school on penalties.
A strong first half performance saw the boys lead 2-0 at half term, thanks to a brace of goals by Anthony Chambers before a spirited St Bernard’s fight back in the second half forced the game to finish 2-2 at full time, before going to penalties.
After a nerve wrecking penalty shoot out, the boys triumphed 3-0 with penalties being scored by Mikey Wilson, Anthony Chambers and Ethan Cunningham. Goalkeeper Carter Fenton was the hero of the shoot out, saving two out of three St Bernard’s penalties! Leading to some jubilant celebrations!
Well done to all of the boys who represented our school so well on the night showing excellent effort, team work and dedication.
The squad for the game was: Carter Fenton, Ethan Barrett, Thomas Wing, Aiden Finlayson, Lewis Foster, Anthony Chambers, Archie Woolhouse, Ethan Cunningham, Mikey Wilson, Sam Da Cruz, Mario Scott, Ramen Fatah, and Harrison Taylor.
The Plate final will be played on Saturday 15th March at St Bernard’s High School, against the winners of Oakwood or Maltby.
Good luck in the final boys, and well done!
