This half term, students across RCS have been developing their confidence, resilience, and life skills through a wide range of Personal Development opportunities.
Sponsored Walk Success:
All year groups took part in our annual Sponsored Walk, completing an 8 mile walk across the rural outskirts of Rawmarsh including Wentworth to raise money for the students nominated charity, Cancer Research. A fantastic effort for such important causes – well done to everyone who took part and we hope you wear your sponsored walk pin badges with pride!
Lifesaving Skills:
First Aid sessions are ongoing, delivering vital lifesaving skills and practical knowledge that could make a real difference.
Learning Beyond the Classroom:
Y10 GCSE Drama students went to Hull theatre to see ‘Black Tie Ball’
Y8 Girls football tournament
Y7 and Y10 La Fiesta Tapas trip
Duke of Edinburgh Silver practice
These activities not only allowed students to experience learning beyond the classroom, but also helped them develop teamwork, independence, and cultural awareness, enriching their personal growth and broadening their horizons!
Student Council:
Councillors recently met with the Head of Catering Operations to learn how our school menu is developed and to take part in a food trial, giving their feedback on the exciting new menu that will soon launch in our cafeteria. This valuable input showcases student voice in action and highlights their communication and evaluation skills. Two representatives from our Education subcommittee are attending the first WPT Trust Council meeting of the year on the 6th November!
European Day of Languages:
We celebrated the European Day of Languages with themed activities, including food tasting, film club, swedish taster session, duolingo and blooket tournaments as well as passports, treasure hunts, and cultural challenges – a fantastic celebration of languages and diversity!
Clubs and Creativity:
Our variety of Extra-curricular clubs are in full swing!

RCS Volunteers
Over 40 student volunteers and members of the RCS Student Leadership Team supported the running of our Open Evening event, confidently leading school tours and assisting with subject taster sessions. Their enthusiasm, professionalism, and pride in our school created a fantastic atmosphere and made a lasting impression on visiting families – a huge well done and thank you to everyone involved!
Form Time Focus:
During tutor time, students explored British Values and Protected Characteristics, resilience, mental and physical wellbeing, AI and the future, and reflected on World Mental Health Day.
Guest speakers this half term have included Kooth mental health, Oddballs testicular cancer foundation, Wath and Wickersley 6th Form, as well as launching work experience with Year 10s!
It’s been a busy and inspiring start to the year – our students continue to impress us with their enthusiasm, achievements, and commitment to personal growth. Well done, everyone!
