Eco-Council Attend Third Eco-Summit

On Thursday the 7th of July, the Eco-Council went to their third Eco-Summit at Clifton School. Nine students from RCS attended and met up with schools across the Trust for the final time.

Our students first listened to a presentation on how schools have tackled the issue of climate change and how they have solved any problems they have faced. Students learned about how they could identify a problem and possible solutions by learning what other schools have done.

They also took part in activities that they chose to attend from the range that was on offer including, poster making, writing for change, a time capsule, and letter writing. Our students produced some amazing work as they made their way around the activities.

Next was a Q&A session with John Healey MP who attended the event to see the great work our students have been doing. He answered questions on his vision for the country regarding the climate crisis and praised the students for all they have done this year.

John Healey also made his way around the Eco-Exhibition where our students displayed all the work they have produced in previous Eco-Summits as well as the work they’ve done at RCS. He heard all about the assemblies our students have delivered, the letters they have drafted, and the commitment they have shown to their school and community over the past year. John seemed impressed with the dedication our students have shown as are we.

The day ended with a prize ceremony, where student achievements were celebrated and our very own Alexandra Wallace won a prize for ‘Best Visual’ piece of work for the Eco-logo she had produced in a previous Eco-Summit.

All of our students conducted themselves excellently during the day as they have done in days past. They should be incredibly proud of all they have achieved this past year and how they have represented our school. We look forward to seeing what they do next year.
