Rebekah Jones – Swimming Success

Rebekah was invited to a trial at Borough of Barnsley Swimming Club towards the end of 2021 where she was given a place in their junior squad. In 2022 she was asked to move into the junior development squad where she trains for 5 1/2 hours per week. One of her sessions is before school on Tues at 5.30 am.

Rebekah has taken part in many competitions at different pools with 2 of them being Ponds Forge, Sheffield, and John Charles Aquatic Centre in Leeds. Rebekah has also supported her Club by swimming in the Barnsley minors league, which is like a football division for swimming clubs. One of her most special moments was when she was chosen to swim in the Yorkshire team event at Ponds Forge. Over the last year, she won many medals and beat her own personal bests.

As we’ve just started a new year swimming comps have begun and last weekend Rebekah was competing in Leeds.  She swam amazingly and achieved 3 new personal bests. This Sunday she’s swimming in the minors league at Scunthorpe and the following weekend it’s all weekend at Ponds Forge for the Rotherham Metro meet. This is the start of a very busy 2023!
Swimming to this level takes a lot of time, dedication, and commitment.

We wish Rebekah the very best of luck at her upcoming competitions!
