Y9 Football Success

Last week saw the return of the historic West Shield Tournament, and our Y9 football team were crowned champions! First contested in 1922, the West Shield was once one of the most prestigious trophies in the Don and Dearne District. This year marked its return after an absence of 56 years, making the achievement even more special.

Despite challenging weather conditions, our team produced a series of excellent performances, defeating Dearne, Wath, Swinton, Laurel Mexborough, and St. Pius to lift the trophy. The shield was presented by Mr Bob Mountain, the last captain to win the competition back in 1970 with Brampton School. Congratulations to M Aliya, B Brown, J Burton-Foord, M Devey, J Hammerton, K Miladi, H McKewan, and T Powell for representing the school so brilliantly and bringing home the silverware. A fantastic achievement – well done, boys!
